Search engine barometer - October 2008

Google stopped its momentum but remains above

91%

This barometer is published every month to follow the main trends in search engine visit shares. Below is the barometer for October 2008.

After 6 consecutive months of growth (particularly marked on September), Google pauses in October 2008 : still clearly leader with 91.02% visits, Google moves back of 0.19 point compared to the previous month.

Yahoo!, second of the barometer (2.59%), Live Search, 3rd (2.11%), AOL, 4th (1.41%), and Orange, 5th (1.19%) keep on losing ground.

It is worth noting the entry of Lo.st engine (that uses Google’s technology) in our barometer. Recently measured by our AT Internet-XiTi solutions, it is ranked 6th with a share of visits of 0.48% on October 2008.

Free and Alice, that proportionately show the highest backward steps of this top 10 this month, are ranked 7 and 8, followed by Ask (the only one to remain stable) and Altavista.
